HISTORY

Together We Can Community Resource Center Inc. is currently a 501 C3 volunteer led group that was established in January of 2016.

Goals:

The long-term goal for Together We Can is to develop and fund a One Stop Shop Community Resource Center. Our goal is to raise enough capital to buy and rehabilitate a building or home in Queens to house the community center.  Our goal is for the location to be in the heart of the Jackson Heights and the Elmhurst Community as there are over 148 languages and different cultures. Some of the resources the one stop shop community center would include are: job development, drug and alcohol resources, domestic violence support services, youth services, prevention services, case management, English language classes, parenting classes, anger management, legal services, child care referrals, food stamps, a food bank, clothing closet and other related community services.

Our short-term goal for Together We Can is to offer various trainings, community café engagement workshops, and a variety of community events (fund-raisers, festivals and more) until the community center is up and running. This will serve as a great method to engage and retain interested community members.

Founders are:
               Shannon Getzel.
               Jessica Chacha.
